Scandinavia travel Photography Stockholm

Early on the third day of our trip we set off on a train from Olso Central station towards Stockholm. 7 and a half hours of beautiful Scandinavian landscapes rushing past the window of our carriage.

We arrived in Stockholm later that afternoon and headed straight to our accommodation, we then grabbed our cameras and headed out into the streets of the old city, Gamla Stan. The first thing I was struck by was the architecture, the colours of the old buildings gave it a warm and inviting feeling, tall red and orange buildings seemed to grow out of the old cobbled streets.

Gamla Stan would turn out to be one of our favorite places to shoot, and the abundance of great restaurants was a great reason to keep going back!

On our second day in Sweden we decided to check more of the city out.

We walked around exploring and snapping shots for hours. One of the things I love about Sweden is how clearly proud of their royalty they are. The whole city is dotted with incredible palaces, halls, monuments and sculptures showing a long history of their heritage.

On the last day in Stockholm we went for a wander and found a great park in the west of the city called Nobelparken.

One of the main attractions for our visit in Stockholm was the incredible metro stations or Stockholms tunnelbana as its called. Of the 100 stations in use, more than 90 of them have been adorned with sculptures, mosaics, paintings, installations, engravings and reliefs by over 150 different artists. It was one the reasons we went to Sweden, and was one of our last stops.

The trains them selves where clean and ran on time, but the real treat was the stations them selves, I can't help but think it would make an otherwise boring commute a pleasure!

I loved the time I spent in Stockholm and cant wait for another opportunity for me to visit again. It is a beautiful city that has a ton of history and character. It is well up there on my list of favorite places.
